Image Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to travel the world at a young age to do what I love, which is sport.

Thanks to very supportive parents, John Senior and Els, I was able to compete in marathon swims ranging from 20 to 48 kilometers in my late teens, while others were stuck at school. This allowed me to meet many amazing people and also to coach many more, something I could never have done without sport.

Please browse through my site to read my stories and training tips; view my photos and swimming squad schedules; and to contact me online for a personal training session. Enjoy!

As Jackson Fletcher-Coon arrived back in Melbourne today after winning the Gold Medal in the Alcatraz Prison Swim to the mainland in San Francisco last week, his coach and mentor, World Champion open-seas swimmer John Van Wisse was departing to England to do a triple crossing of the English Channel next week. Both are raising money for and disadvantaged young people in Melbourne.

Jackson, who was sponsored by his employer, Powercor, and Qantas Airlines, raised $10k to help with education ,material aid [food, clothes & accommodation] for those young people brought up in poverty and dysfunctional families. Jackson had to swim 1.5 miles through waters infested with sharks, sea lions and treacherous currents against 700 swmmers from 30 countries.

John has to swim 102 kilometres through the world's biggest shipping lanes. John's sister Tammy, also a World Champion swimmer, will be guiding John and feeding him from the boat to ensure he doesn't get hyperthermia, which once happened to John after swimming 32 kilometres in France.
